Since moving to Toronto in 2002, Mark Cashion has been a mainstay on the local jazz scene. A graduate of the Mohawk College applied arts program, Mark has studied the bass privately with Pat Collins and Jim Vivian. While there, he received intensive musical instruction with Jim Blackley, Geoff Young, Mike Malone and Dave McMurdo. During that time, Mark toured the United States with blues legend George "Wild Child" Butler. He also began working with Carnival Cruise Lines and Premier Cruise Lines as a show band musician and in a jazz trio format. Mark's international career took him to Asia in 2005, where he performed nightly at one of Hong Kong's finest five star hotels, The Kowloon Shangri-La. In May 2006, he returned to China as a member of the Shuffle Demons, performing at clubs and concert halls in Beijing, Shanghai and points in between. Mark has also toured across Canada with the Michael Kaeshammer trio, opening for jazz vocalist Holly Cole. Most recently he performed at the 2011 Montreal Jazz Festival with the Ernesto Cervini Quartet.

Mark has spent years as a music teacher, teaching music theory, electric and upright bass, guitar and piano to a wide range of students. Mark has quickly established himself on the Toronto jazz scene, becoming one of the city's most sought after jazz bassists. He regularly plays at Toronto's jazz clubs including The Rex, The Trane Studio, and the now defunct Montreal Bistro and The Top of the Senator. He has had the pleasure of playing with some of Canada's most renowned artists including: Kirk McDonald, Bernie Senensky, Pat LaBarbara, Mike Murley, Mike Malone, Don Thompson, Kelly Jefferson, Perry White, Richard Underhill, Richard Whiteman, Norman Marshall Villeneuve, Bob Brough, Mark Eisenman, John Sumner, David Occhipinti, Kevin Dempsey, Lorne Lofsky, Barry Romberg, Shawn Nykwist, Adrean Farrugia, Mark McLean, Mark Kelso, Robi Botos and his brother Frank Botos.
